The Bull-Pen Weekly - Week 2 Wrap Up

Post by xIncredibleHawkx on Thu Feb 25, 2016 12:20 am

After last week's win at home, the Houston Texans looked poised to make a playoff run. Week 2 was not so kind. The Carolina defense dominated from the get-go. Although the score may not have showed it (34-45), it was a complete annihilation. Houston had a lot of trouble running and passing the ball. Arian Foster was held under 20 yards and as a result of trailing the entire game, Brian Hoyer was forced to pass the ball over 50 times. Hoyer did manage to rack up of over 300 yards and a couple scores, however, his QBR was just over 64, and his completion percentage was less than 40%. Brian Hoyer had this to say after the game, "I put a lot of what went wrong out there on me. I hesitated making throws, my footwork was poor and it cost us. I must have been sacked 100 times today" The Panthers defense did have plethora of sacks and the secondary shut down Houston's passing attack, leading to a couple INTs. One fan who was interviewed after the game had a very strong opinion of what went wrong. "Hoyer is garbage man! We need a QB bad! He just cant make the throws he needs to make out there." The Texans are in dire need of a QB. A recent players poll ranked Brian Hoyer as the worst starting quarterback in the league. This opinion however, is not lost on the Texan's front office. They have made a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks in an attempt to strengthen their position in this year's draft or possibly add some additional value in a trade proposal. The trade which was completed immediately after their week two loss, sends superstar DeAndre Hopkins, starting right guard Brandon Brooks, tight end C.J. Fiedrowitz, and the very young and talented wideout, Jalen Strong to Seattle in exchange for the Seahawks 2016 1st and 2nd round picks, Beast Mode-Marshawn Lynch, wide receivers Jermaine  Kearse and Ricardo Lockette and right guard Gabe "The Hammer" Camini, who will likely be the back up to 2nd year man Xavier Sua-Filo. "Hopefully with a couple first rounders we can position ourselves to acquire a talented young QB sometime before the trade deadline, or if we have to wait until draft day to weigh other options, were okay with that too. After one tough loss it is certainly too early to push the panic button, but we feel Brian is not the guy who can lead us to where we want to be. I know that, the coaches know that, the fans know that, and I'm sure he knows that. We are more comfortable with him in an supporting role at that position. We love the guy, but we have to do what is in the best interest for all 53 men on this team.", said Texans owner, Tony Hawkins. It may be too early to panic, but there is certainly reason for concern down in Space City.
